Flight Information and Links

The easiest and quickest way to get to Eleuthera is by air.  There are three airports that serve the island, two of which are much closer to the house than the third.  Governor's Harbour Airport (GHB) is closest to the house.  The other two airports are North Eleuthera (ELH) to the north and Rock Sound (RSD) to the south.  The flight from Miami or Fort Lauderdale is approximately 1 hour.  Bahamasair connects Nassau with RSD and GHB.  The flight is 30 minutes, and the drive to the house is about 30 minutes, too.  There are direct flights to Rock Sound from Milan, Italy.  There are also a number of small charters that connect Ft. Lauderdale and Miami with the island, such as Twin Air and Island Express.

Recently, American has terminated their flights into GHB.  This has left fewer carriers with fewer seats so it has become a little more difficult to get good airfares.  We've found that the most affordable way, and perhaps the most convenient as well, is to go into ELH on Continental (coming from NYC).  This means about an hour and a half drive to the house once you've landed.  US Air is the best choice for flying with one carrier into GHB.  Below is a list of options for traveler's.  Twin Air, one of the smaller carriers flies into GHB on Wed, Fri, Sat, and Sun for about $300 round trip out of Fort Lauderdale (FLL).  They may be a good alternative for folks who can't get a seat on one of the major carriers.
