Groceries and bakeries

SeaDreams is located in the Ten Bay community, which is between Savannah Sound to the south and Palmetto Point to the north.  The Bahamian settlements are where the grocery stores and bakeries can be found.
Groceries and bakeries by location and proximity to SeaDreams
Savannah Sound - 1mi south
Uncle John's - we are pleased to finally have a small full service grocery and liquor store in nearby Savannah Sound.  His meat supply tends to run out early in the week so best to get there from Tue - Fri.  He has several refrigerators with fresh items, several rows of canned and packaged products, and a full selection of beer, wine, and liquor.  Uncle John's is located on the Atlantic side of Savannah Sound in the southern part of the community.  John will also stock the house for guests of SeaDreams.

Breezy Hill Dis and Dat - on Queen's Highway, just before Savannah Sound, is a vegetable stand.  They have a small, but good supply of produce, fruits, vegetables, homemade cakes, and ice cream.

Palmetto Point - 3mi north
Lakia's - this very nice market in North Palmetto Point can be a little tricky to find due to its dark windows and unassuming sign that reads 'Variety Store'.  Lakia's has the best supply of fresh items, a good selection of local fruits, meat, and a wide variety of packaged goods.

Millard's - located on Church St. in North Palmetto, Mr. Millard stocks a small, but ample supply of the most common grocery items.  He also has fresh watermelon, eggs, and other essentials.  Millard's is very easy to find.

Big General - also in North Palmetto, this is a good place for dry goods.

Thompson's Seaside - located in South Palmetto Point.  We have not shopped there so can't offer an opinion.

Island Farm - located on the right hand side when heading south from Palmetto, Island Farm has the best selection of greens on the island.  Fresh kale, spinach, arugula, along with an assortment of other specialty items and sauces can be found here.

Governor's Harbour - 8mi north
Burrow's One Stop - as you exit Governor's heading south you will see a small white building next to a liquor store bearing the same name.  Burrow's has the best selection of meats and a very good selection of everything else.  The store tends to get a bit crowded primarily because it has excellent quality products.

Eleuthera Supply - the 'big' grocery store in Governor's carries a complete supply of just about everything.  They also have a big supply of sundries, home goods, and pharmaceutical type products.  They are located right in the heart of town at the big shopping center next to the gas station.

Arthur's Governor's Harbour Bakery - located in the west settlement, Arthur's has the largest selection of fresh baked goods.

Island Grocery and Seafood - this is the only store on the island that I'm aware of that keeps a supply of fish, lobster, and conch.  It is located in the eastern settlement of Governor's.

Dock Fresh Fish - the fishermen come in every afternoon with fresh catch.  During the right season they will have an ample supply of Caribbean lobster.  During the off season you can expect to find grouper, strawberry grouper, hog snapper, red snapper, conch, and an occasional turtle.

Tarpum Bay - 13mi south
Carey's - is located on the left hand as you head south to enter Tarpum Bay right next to a hardware store of the same name.  They have a good supply of general items.

Bert's for the Best - right on Queen's Highway after you make the sharp left when heading south, Bert's is a full service market with an ample supply of produce and dry goods.

Your Friendly - this establishment is set back in the community of Tarpum Bay and they specialize on fresh goods.  They usually have a good supply of produce and vegetables.

Dock Fresh Fish - there are two docks that have competing fishermen.  Conch, hog snapper, and grouper are the usual local catches along with lobster when in season.

Rock Sound - 20mi south
The Market - even though this supermarket is 20 miles from the house, it is sometimes worth it to make the trip.  It is the best, most complete, most stocked super market on the island.  If you can't find an item elsewhere, you can usually find it here.  They have a large selection of frozen meats, a wide selection of produce, and many aisles of dry goods.  They also have a speedy check out with several people working the registers and bagging.  The Market is located in the mall complex just before entering Rock Sound when heading south.
